Tony Pulis failed to deliver a return date for goalkeeper Ben Foster
West Brom manager Tony Pulis failed to deliver a return date for goalkeeper Ben Foster, who has been on the sidelines for a long time due to an anterior cruciate ligament.
The former Manchester United goalkeeper is the backup to Joe Hart in the England national team. He was expected to travel with the squad for the Euro 2016, but that has now been put under major doubt due to his failure to even come back to training. At 32 years of age, this may very well be the last opportunity forFoster to appear in a major international tournament.
Foster suffered an injury while playing for West Brom back in March. He was expected to return by October, but the player has since suffered a setback in his recovery process. Myhill has been getting some much-needed gametime in his absence. If Foster fails to make it into the first-team squad by convincing Roy Hodgson that he is fit enough, then this is likely to mean a great opportunity for players like Stoke City’s Jack Butland. It remains to be seen whether Pulis will remain patient with Foster if the player shows no signs of returning quickly to first-team action.
The club have already been linked with a couple of goalkeepers, who are young and agile too.“I have no idea, I don’t know.Obviously with such a serious injury he will want – for his confidence more than anything – that he is right before he starts trying to play in the games and train. We will see, we all wish Ben a speedy recovery because he has been a massive player here all the time I have been here. All the lads love him. You just have to watch the way he plays, he is tireless - it suits the way we play,” said Myhill.
