Watford manager Quique Sanchez Flores has said that the Hornets still have everything to play for in the Premier League. The Hornets had picked up their first victory of the league campaign against Norwich City prior to the international break but they could not carry with the momentum as they suffered a 3-0 home defeat against Burnley.
As a result, the Hornets have dropped to the bottom of the standings once more and they are now five points adrift of safety. In an interview covered by the club’s website, Flores has acknowledged that the Hornets were on the wrong end of a heavy defeat over the weekend but believes there are plenty of matches left to recover the deficit.
He told: “When we won at Norwich, not everything was solved. When we lost today, it doesn’t decide anything either. After defeat not everything is lost. It is a race and it’s about how we can improve. It’s about belief, it’s about fight and if we believe, we can do this together. You have to be ready to fight and we are still ready to fight. To keep believing is really important and that is what we will do.”
Watford are scheduled to face Southampton on the road during their forthcoming league clash and the game can be regarded as a relegation six-pointer. Compared to the Hornets, the Saints have shown more resilience since the 9-0 embarrassment against Leicester City but they have still been poor on the attacking front.
Most recently, they played out a 2-2 draw against Arsenal on the road but they should have quite easily won the game. The South Coast outfit had more than two clear-cut chances to put the game to bed at 2-1 but they managed to squander each of those before the Gunners grabbed a late equaliser.
