RAMSDALE LABELLED WORLD CLASS BY FOSTER

Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster is certain that compatriot Aaron Ramsdale is already a world class goalkeeper. The Hornets shot stopper labelled Arsenal goalkeeper Ramsdale as world class in a chat with English media outlet 90min. According to Ben Foster, England international Ramsdale fits the profile of an ideal modern shot stopper.

Ben Foster has been impressed with the start made by 23-year-old Ramsdale following his transfer to Arsenal last summer. The transfer was heavily criticised, but his performances for the Gunners have gone a long way to silence those who criticised the transfer.

Ramsdale has shown mental strength to recover from two successive relegations from the Premier League. He was in goal as Bournemouth suffered relegation from the Premier League at the end of the 2019/20 season. Following the Cherries’ demotion to the English Championship, Sheffield United paid around £20m to sign him at the start of last season and he would go on to suffer relegation with the Blades in his first season. After one season at Bramall Lane, Ramsdale was on the move again.

Arsenal signed him from the Blades at the start of the current season and he has been a revelation. The Gunners paid an initial fee of £24m for him with an extra £6m in add-ons. He has been one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League this season with ten clean sheets in just 18 appearances.

Ramsdale is a major reason why the Gunners have improved defensively especially in terms of their Premier League clean sheet record. German international Bernd Leno was the first choice goalkeeper at Arsenal before the arrival of Ramsdale and he has been displaced by the Englishman. Leno is expected to leave Arsenal as a result with the likes of Newcastle United and Bayer Leverkusen keen on signing him.

FOSTER TIPS HENDERSON TO ACHIEVE HIS ENGLAND DREAMS

Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson has ways made it known that he wants to be the next number one goalkeeper for both his club and country and he has been working towards reaching that goal in recent times. Henderson has had to follow quite a tedious path toward becoming as good as he is at the moment and he believes that even though it may take him some time, he is willing and ready to work and perform at the level demanded of him to displace the current starting goalkeepers at Manchester United and the England national team.

He spent two seasons on loan at Bramall Lame playing for Sheffield United before returning to Old Trafford last season to fight for a starting spot at the club. Upon his return, Henderson was full of confidence in his abilities and capabilities and revealed in his very first interview as a United returnee that he has only come back to take over the starting role between the sticks at Old Trafford and with the Three Lions as well.

It was a tough call to make for United manager Olé Gunnar Solksjær but he eventually decided to hand Henderson the starting spot in the team for Premier League games while De Gea was handed a starting role in UEFA Europa League games. Although he was a bit shaky in goal for United during some games, Henderson largely showcased why he is the club’s next goalkeeper for many years to come.

He continued to show confidence and improvement game after game and it became hard for De Gea to win back his Premier League starting status. Former United teenage goalkeeper Ben Foster has now revealed that he believes that if Henderson continues to be confident and improve on his game, then he will surely end up becoming England’s starting goalkeeper very soon.

FOSTER PROVED RIGHT WITH STERLING CLAIM

Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster was one of those who called for England national team manager Gareth Southgate to include Manchester City star Raheem Sterling in the starting XI ahead of their Euro 2020 opener with Croatia in Group D and he has been able to repay the faith shown in him and others. Ben Foster called for Sterling to start the Croatia game on his YouTube channel.

Arsenal target Sterling has the ability to strike fear into opponents easily according to Ben Foster as he backed the Manchester City player to produce the goods at the tournament. Foster was proved right after Sterling scored the goal that won the game for England at the expense of the Croatians. The Manchester City attacker scored in the second half after receiving a wonderful pass from the impressive Leeds United player Kalvin Philips. Philips delivered a good pass and Sterling was able to apply the finishing touch to give the Three Lions the three points at stake and at the expense of the Croatians.

Manchester City are the Premier League champions but they are expected to make some signings and let a few of their players leave this summer. It has been reported that Sterling could be one of the players to leave with keen interest from Arsenal. The Gunners will definitely have to pay the big bucks if they want to sign the former Liverpool player with £49m quoted as the asking price.

For now, the Euro tournament is the focus for Sterling amidst talks about his Manchester City future. He has scored the only goal for England in the two games played. Sterling played the entire game against Scotland on Friday night ass England played out a goalless draw to stay in second place on the group standings behind leaders Czech Republic with four points from two matches.
