Watford manager Javi Gracia has indicated that the club remain ambitious of making the Europa League despite the recent blow at the hands of Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Hornets had the opportunity to beat the Wolves to the seventh spot this weekend, but instead they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat which has dropped them four points behind the west Midlands outfit.

Speaking after the game, Gracia admitted disappointment with the outcome of the game where they were guilty of conceding another cheap goal through goalkeeper Ben Foster. He added that the club are still ambitious of qualifying for the Europa League and they will be aiming to do so through the FA Cup final, should they fail to leapfrog the Wolves during the final two matches of the season.

He said: "I'm disappointed and sad - we wanted to get a better result, but it was impossible. In all the games, whenever we have conceded goals, there have always been mistakes, but in the last few games we have been conceding avoidable goals. Watford end the campaign with matches against Chelsea and West Ham United and even if they secure victories in both of those games, they could miss out of the seventh position. As such, the FA Cup final probably remains the best bet for the moment, but the same remains a difficult task as they have to overcome Manchester City. The Citizens are regarded as the outright favourites for the Cup and a potential domestic treble, and the Hornets players need to have the game of their lives to outwit the Mancunian giants.
