FOSTER RAVES ABOUT VILLA GOALKEEPER

Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster has been left impressed by the quality shown by Aston Villa shot stopper Emiliano Martinez in the Premier League this season. Ben Foster was on Saturday Social last week to talk about how good Emiliano Martinez has been for Aston Villa this season. Ben Foster can't believe Arsenal sold Emiliano Martinez to Aston Villa at the start of the season. The Argentine international was allowed to leave the Gunners last summer after Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta could not guarantee him a spot in the starting XI ahead of Bernd Leno.

Emiliano Martinez was the second choice goalkeeper at Arsenal at the start of last season and he didn't get his chance in the Premier League until first choice goalkeeper Bernd Leno was injured by the challenge from Brighton and Hove Albion striker Neal Maupay shortly after the Premier League restart. The incident involving Bernd Leno and Neal Maupayovershadowed the 2-1 defeat suffered by Arsenal at the hands of their hosts. Emiliano Martinez replaced the injured Bernd Leno during that Brighton game and he went on to show his quality till the end of last season. He was instrumental to the Arsenal squad that won both the FA Cup at the end of last season and the Community Shield at the start of this season.

Arsenal sold Emiliano Martinez to Aston Villa in a £20m deal and he has proven to be a bargain signing. Ben Foster told Saturday Social that Emiliano Martinez is the best goalkeeper in the Premier League on current form and that he has been instrumental to the good season by Aston Villa. Villa are in the top half of the Premier League table, which is in stark contrast to last season when they survived relegation by the skin of their teeth. Emiliano Martinez has kept 12 clean sheets in the Premier League this season and only Manchester City shot stopper EdersonMoraes has more amongst the Premier League goalkeepers.
