CLARKE HAPPY

The manager of West Bromwich Albion, Steve Clarke, is very happy with the way his side played against Arsenal on Sunday.
West Brom had got the Gunners under pressure in that game. They took the lead just a few minutes before the half time break with the goal of Claudio Yacob and they had a couple of chances to double that lead too, but, Nicolas Anelka who is one of their experienced players wasted both those opportunities. Later on, Jack Wilshere scored the leveller for Arsenal and the match finished in the form of a draw.

Although, the Baggies couldn’t get 3 points from the game but, they were clearly the dominant side.

Talking to the reporters yesterday, Clarke said, “We didn’t have a great start this season, but, in the last few games, we have got better.”

“The way the boys performed against Arsenal was heartening to see. We gave them a run for their money and that’s something which is going to boost our confidence.”

When asked about Claudio Yacob who scored the only goal for West Brom in the game against Arsenal, Clarke said, “Claudio is somebody who is physically very strong. He is an attacking player and he got us in a very good position with that goal.”

When asked about Nicolas Anelka who has failed to create any impact since his arrival at the club this summer, Clarke said, “Nicolas has got a lot of experience and sooner or later, he will start scoring.”

“It’s not that he is completely out of form. He is there or thereabouts.”

Anelka had played for the Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua last season. Shenhua released him in July this year and thereafter, he signed for West Brom. He has so far made 4 League appearances for the Baggies and hasn’t managed to score even once.
