Ben Foster concedes two goals as Arsenal beat West Bromwich Albion

Ben Foster conceded two goals in the match against Arsenal at the Emirates on Thursday. The game played in a relatively empty Emirates Stadium ended 2-0 for the Gunners.

As expected, it was Arsenal who enjoyed the lion’s share of the possession, and West Bromwere happy to let them play in front of them.

The first goal came in the 6th minute when Alexis Sanchez received the ball from Mesut Ozil, avoided a challenge from Sandro and fired a powerful shot beyond the reach of Ben Foster. This was the goal that Emirates needed to lift the atmosphere.

West Brom was content with the 1-0 scoreline and continued to play defensively and could have equalized when they got a corner. McAuley’s header was denied by the bar.

However, it will be Arsenal that will score again to double the lead. Aaron Ramsey will be fouled on the edge of the box, and Alexis Sanchez will fire a precise shot from the resulting free-kick. Ben Foster did not have any chance, and it was 2-0 for the Gunners in the 38th minute.

After the break, Arsenal were happy to keep possession and did create a few occasions. They were either denied by Ben Foster or by overelaborating their play. West Bromwich Albion could have reduced the deficit again on a corner when Rondon missed a wonderful opportunity.

In the closing stage of the game, Oliver Giroud will have a chance to make it 3-0, but his shot will be directed at the face of Ben Foster. This will sum up Giroud’s contribution to the game, and there was a huge contrast between his playing style and Welbeck.

West Bromwich Albion, who have already secured their place in the Premier League for next season, were happy that the game ended only at 2-0.
