Ben Foster made his first appearance of the season for Watford and he was able to keep a clean sheet as the Hornets progressed into the third round of the Carabao Cup. Ben Foster was in goal as Watford beat Palace 1-0 at home in their second round clash last week.
Ashley Fletcher was the hero for Watford as he scored the only goal of the game in the battle of two Premier League teams to ensure that Watford saw off Palace in the Carabao Cup second round. The 25-year-old striker scored the only goal of the game with four minutes left on the clock. The reward for beating Crystal Palace in the second round is a third round meeting with Championship team Stoke City at home for the right to seal a place in the fourth round of the competition.
