Ben Foster saves West Bromwich from defeat

Tottenham Hotspur had the upper hand over West Bromwich Albion in just about everything as the team of Mauricio Pochettino enjoyed having more possession, shots on target, completed passes and just about everything else.

Despite having so much control, Tottenham had to settle with only 1 point from this match and this was mostly due to the sublime performance from the 33 year old shot-stopper Ben Foster who made a number of amazing saves which kept his team in the game.

In the early stages of the match, Ben Foster had to deny a number of shots from entering his net which were launched from a number of Tottenham Hotspur players including: Bamidele Ali, Christian Eriksen and Ben Davies.

As the match progressed, Tottenham Hotspur continued pushing forward with their offensive forces but Ben Foster maintained his superb form and did not concede a goal until the 89th minute and the match shortly after reached it’s end as West Bromwich Albion had already scored thanks to a goal from NacerChadli which was scored at the 82nd minute.

After the match was over, the head coach of West Bromwich Albion Tony Pullis took his time to praise the effort that Ben Foster put in that match, even though he did concede a goal in the last few minutes of the game it still was an amazing performance from the English goal-keeper as Tony Pullis said:

“If you look at it as a whole we’ve got Ben to thank in the first half. I thought we still looked as though half a dozen of the players were still away on international duty. We never got up to the ball, we allowed Tottenham to play. They changed it as well, they were very clever in the way they did it, and they stretched us and then got ChristianEriksen and Alli in the little pockets, so that caused us a few more problems’’

WEST BROM FORCE STOKE TO PLAY 1-1

Stoke were denied the bragging right of having won a Premier League match this season when they played West Bromwich Albion.

After a second half effort, Stoke were in the clear to get three points from the game. However, a late match effort from Salomon Rondon ensured West Brom had a share of the points.

After a second half effort, Stoke were in the clear to get three points from the game. However, a late match effort from Salomon Rondon ensured West Brom had a share of the points.

The Mark Hughes-led team looked to end their losing streak when former Reds player Joe Allen scored in the 73rd minute. Rondon scored via a header in the added time after 90 minutes to calm the fans of the home team. Stoke City settled for just two points from six games this term in the Premier League as the game ended.

Tony Pulis would be the happier of the managers, as he is yet to lose against his former club after five meetings. The draw ensures West Bromwich Albion have not done too badly this season considering the performance of comparable teams in the league. The result would mean more pressure on Hughes as his side place 19th, a step above Sunderland who are at the bottom of the table.

Stoke fans gave Pulis a rousing ovation before the game started as he emerged from the tunnel. Pulis, 58, waved at the fans in appreciation. The first half was boring as there was not a lot to cheer about. In the 25th minute, Stoke went close to scoring as Glen Johnson scooped the ball past West Brom goalkeeper Ben Foster, but Craig Johnson saved the day. Rondon hit two shots but they didn’t really threaten the opposition. Referee Martin Atkinson saved aside appeals for a penalty twice when Erik Pieters was allegedly fouled in the box. Xherdan Shaqiri and Jonny Evans helped the play that ended with Allen’s goal. Allen would have been a hero of the night until Rondon got the equalizer.

BROM OFFER FLETCHER NEW DEAL

English Premier League club West Bromwich Albion have agreed to offer Darren Fletcher a new deal, according to reports. Talks between both parties are expected to begin in a few weeks. Tony Pulis has had a decent start to the new campaign.

The management values the contribution of Fletcher, so would offer him an extension. The Albion wants to tie all the important players to the club on a long term basis.

Fletcher’s contract with West Brom demands that his deal be extended when he plays in a certain amount of Premier League games. The club is ready to offer the Scotland international a better package as the 32-year old has made an impact since joining on a free transfer from Man United last year.

Fletcher has a real scare that threatened to end his career. He suffered from a chronic bowel disease called ulcerative colitis. He took a break from football in 2011, and was operated on in 2013. He made a full recovery, becoming a regular at West Brom last term.

Against all the football betting odds, he was named Player of the Year and this season he has begun all the league games under Pulis, impressing and giving gravitas and generally being a brilliant captain.

Alongside Fletcher, West Brom want to tie Northern Ireland international Jonny Evans to the club long term. Arsenal have signalled their interest in the player, but West Brom want him to remain.

“He got me in at West Brom and made me captain. He made me an important player around the place and I’d like to think my performances in return have been good to him. I hope the manager can show what a good manger he is with a good group of players and we can have a really good season that reflects his hard work and how good a manager he is,” Fletcher said.
