According to reports emerging from the West Midlands, the two parties are expected to sit down for further talks this weekend as they try to reach agreement regarding an arrangement for the former Spurs manager to take over as the new permanent manager of the Baggies.

West Bromwich Albion are looking for their third manager in a season after getting rid of the services of Steve Clarke midway through the season and his replacement, Spanish boss Pepe Mel at the end of the season. The sacking of Clarke came as a surprise for many, especially after the performances of the club the previous season where they finished in the top ten and defeated the likes of Liverpool and drew 5-5 at home with champions Manchester United.

Sherwood was sacked by Spurs at the end of last season, just six months into an eighteen month deal after failing to take the club into the UEFA Champions League. The former Blackburn Rovers midfielder took over the reins at the club after the sacking of Andre Villas Boas midway through the season, under whom he was assistant boss.

Many believe his outspoken nature and attitude was too much for club chairman Daniel Levy to handle and in spite of several attempts to put a leash on him, the club couldn’t stop him from commenting on the way he wanted things to be.
It was reported last week that Sherwood had agreed personal terms with the Baggies but an appointment couldn’t be announced after he kept bargaining for more amenities for his support staff, something the club is not willing to give and that has held up the deal.

But reports also suggest an announcement could be made this week.

Foster Aware Of Hart’s Advantage

West Brom goalkeeper Ben Foster has revealed that he is aware that Manchester City number one Joe Hart will be the first choice for England national team as well. Foster was one of the names who came close to becoming the replacement for Paul Robinson at international level. However, he has not been in the frame for being the England number one since leaving Manchester United on a permanent basis. Joining West Brom has given him the ability to play regular first-team football, but it has crucially deprived him of top-level experience like playing in the Champions League.

Foster is aware that Hart has the advantage in this regard since Manchester City will be fighting for all four competitions over the course of the season. This has made Hart the undisputed number one as far as England is concerned. He may have suffered from a dip in form earlier in the campaign, but he now seems to be back to his best. As a result, Foster is almost certain to be playing the role as a backup for the England national team at the World Cup 2014. This is a job that he is more than happy to do because he is aware of the quality ahead of him.

“I think Joe Hart should be No 1. God forbid he gets injured – he is a fantastic goalkeeper and we are lucky to have someone like him. I get to see him close up in training and he is brilliant, fantastic. I don’t think there are any worries on that front. For me it is going to be a real honour to be involved in a World Cup squad – I have never been involved in a major tournament. If I get the call I am really going to be looking forward to it,” said Foster.
