Pre-season program will determine Baggies’ progress

West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Ben Foster has stated that he is in the best shape he has been in his entire career and has claimed the club’s form in the early part of the season will be determined by the summer training schedule. According to the England international, he spent two hours in the gym everyday during the off season despite being on holiday and the 30 year old admits he is now reaping the rewards he put in the gym during the off season.

And the former Manchester United goalkeeper has reiterated that the pre-season program of the club with be very important for the progress of the Baggies with the club making the players undergo training twice a day to ensure that they are physically ready for the demands and rigors of top flight football. Ben Foster mentioned that it is all about the progression and improvement, adding that the club had a tough start to last season but mentioned the club was helped by the pre-season program.

He went on to add that the club caught a lot of big clubs unaware by their fitness, not least of all Manchester United when the champions were held to a 5-5 draw in the last match of the Premier League season after leading 3-1 and then 4-2 at different points of the game. Foster was immortalised in an old trafford canvas celebrating Sir Alex Ferguson's last match.

Foster mentioned that the club is looking forward to doing much of the same this year as well. He stated that it could be seen how fit the players were when last season kicked and he believes things will be more or less the same thanks to the daily routine they are following.

And Ben Foster is also proud of the fact that he has worked hard to get into shape, adding that this is the leanest he has ever been.
